HOPE House is piloting a new role as it looks to grow its meal and food skill-based programming. This position is a part-time 10-week contract with the possibility of an extension. This 10-week contract is focused on the development and delivery of food skills class every Thursday afternoon/evening and acting as the chef for a meal program supporting food insecure BIPOC community members in Guelph.
Reporting to the Programs Director, the Community Chef brings people together to cook and share good food. We are looking for a talented, motivated chef to provide leadership in our kitchen. The ideal candidate is passionate about good culturally diverse food and wants to contribute to ensuring that everyone has access to food. They would understand the power of food and the many positive impacts it can have: from supporting the health and wellbeing of our community members, to building social ties to supporting local farmers. The community chef will be a great cook who models the principle that healthy food can be simple to make and delicious. They will possess strong leadership skills balanced with an ability to create a supportive environment in the kitchen for a diverse team of volunteers that will enable them to develop skills and leadership.
